Team ’26 Recap: Atlassian Moves From AI Assistance to AI-Native Work

At Team ’26, Atlassian made one message clear: enterprise AI will only create value when it understands how work actually happens. The latest announcements focus on connected context, governed agents, and workflows where humans and AI can move work forward together.

Alex, who joined the event in Anaheim on behalf of Life in Codes, captured the energy behind this shift directly from the Convention Center: “Being here at the source allows us to bring the most advanced Future of Work strategies directly back to our clients. What I’m most excited to showcase this week is the move beyond simple automation to true agentic workflows, supported by seamless collaboration and integrated tooling.”

The Teamwork Graph becomes the context engine

At the center of Atlassian’s direction sits the Teamwork Graph. Atlassian describes it as the context engine that connects people, goals, code, content, incidents, decisions, and work across Atlassian products and connected tools. The graph now holds over 150 billion objects and relationships, giving AI agents the context they need to understand how work connects across teams, projects, and systems. Atlassian also reports that grounding AI responses in Teamwork Graph data delivered 44% more accurate results while using 48% fewer tokens.

This matters because AI agents need more than access to data. They need the relationships behind that data. Who owns the decision? Which project depends on this issue? What changed after the last incident? Which runbook applies now? These details help AI move from simple summaries to useful action.

Rovo Studio brings agent building closer to teams

Rovo Studio brings this idea into daily work. Atlassian positions Studio as a no-code place where teams can build, deploy, and govern AI agents, automations, and apps. It includes guided prompts, Atlassian and third-party skills, roles, approvals, versioning, and insights, so teams can create AI workflows without creating shadow AI across the organization.

The examples show how broad this can become. Software and product teams can use agents to turn research into Jira stories, check story quality, summarize defects, and generate test cases. Service teams can use agents to triage tickets, set priorities, route requests, and turn incidents into executive-ready summaries. Business and leadership teams can use agents for onboarding, performance reviews, marketing briefs, executive insights, and strategic planning.

Rovo Max points toward more complex AI workflows

Atlassian also introduced Max mode in Rovo, a new reasoning mode designed for complex, multi-step work. Instead of prompting AI at every step, users can describe the outcome they need, such as a cross-project report, competitive brief, or project plan. Max mode can break the request into steps, create an execution plan, work across connected tools, and share outputs the team can build on.

For teams, this signals a shift from AI as a response tool to AI as a workflow partner. The value comes from giving agents enough context, structure, and governance to complete work without losing visibility.

The agentic enterprise needs structure

The wider shift also appears in Atlassian’s Agentic Enterprise guide. Atlassian notes that enterprises have invested more than $40 billion in AI over the last 24 months, while only 12% of executives say they see strategic AI use across their organizations. The companies seeing value connect agents to enterprise context and place them inside everyday workflows, from ticket routing to defect cleanup, onboarding, campaigns, and leadership visibility.

For Atlassian customers, the takeaway from Team ’26 feels practical: AI success depends on the quality of the system around it. Clean workflows, structured knowledge, clear permissions, reliable data, and strong governance now shape how much value teams can extract from AI.

What this means for Life in Codes clients

For Life in Codes clients, this creates a clear opportunity. The next phase of Atlassian adoption will focus on preparing organizations for AI-native work. That means improving Jira and Confluence structures, connecting knowledge, clarifying ownership, designing governed automations, and helping teams use agents where they can reduce friction in real processes.
